Springboks Rugby Players Shirtless and Speedo Photos. Yesterday, we finally watched Clint Eastwood’s Invictus when it aired on cable. We wanted to see the movie when it came out in 2009 but it was pulled out of the cinema before we had the chance to go watch it. For whatever reason, the movie was pulled out after 2-3 days instead of the usual one week.
Anyhoo, the film is very inspirational and we won’t mind watching it again and again and again. We love us our inspirational sports films so we really should buy a DVD version of this movie. Haha. We put Invictus behind Rudy as the second sports movie that we won’t get tired re-watching. And, why not? We love us our Mandela, we love us our Matt Damon, we love us our Morgan Freeman. And, oh, we learned to love us our Francois Pienaar, the Afrikaner who led the South African national rugby team, the Springboks, to the Rugby World Cup title.
After seeing the movie, we spent several hours watching Youtube interviews of Pienaar and we are very impressed with him. He comes across as an intelligent stand-up guy who is humble and gracious. To think that the events in the film happened when he was still a young man in his twenties makes us even more impressed with his character. Mandela couldn’t have found a better man to help him inspire the peoples of new South Africa towards forgiveness, reconciliation, and nation-building.
