Canadian NFL Players Current Roster and Past Ones. As it happens, Australian footballers are not the only ones establishing their presence in the National Football League (NFL), their pals from Canada are making their presence felt too.

So let’s check out the Canadian NFL players in 2015. Later in this post, we’ll also look at those who, in the past, made their mark in the NFL.

Class of 2015:
Tyler Varga, running back from Kitchener, ON. Signed with the Indianapolis Colts.
Brett Boyko, offensive lineman from Saskatoon, SK. Signed with the Philadelphia Eagles.
Brandon Bridge, quarterback from Toronto, ON. Signed with the Dallas Cowboys.

Christian Covington, defensive end from Vancouver, BC. Drafted by the Houston Texans in the sixth round (216th pick overall).

Brett Jones, offensive lineman from Weyburn, SK. Was signed by the New York Giants in February 2015 after a one-season stint with the Calgary Stampeders.

Ben Heenan, offensive lineman from Regina, SK. Signed by the Indianapolis Colts after a two-year stint with the Saskatchewan Roughriders.

Class of 2014:
Brent Urban, defensive lineman from Mississauga, ON. Drafted by the Baltimore Ravens in the fourth round (134th overall pick). Current Status: Injured reserve.

John Urschel, offensive lineman from Winnipeg, MB. Drafted by the Baltimore Ravens in the 5th round (175th pick overall). Winner of the 2013 William V. Campbell Trophy which is given by the National Football Foundation to a college football player with the “best combination of academics, community service, and on-field performance”. Current Status: Active.

Tai-ler “TJ” Fitzgerald Jones, wide receiver from Winnipeg, MB. Drafted by the Detroit Lions in the 6th round (189th pick overall). Current Status: Active.

Laurent Duvernay-Tardif, offensive tackle from Mont-Saint-Hilaire, Quebec. Drafted by the Kansas City Chiefs in the 6th round (200th overall pick). Current Status: Active.

Henoc Muamba, linebacker from Mississauga, ON. Was signed by the Indianapolis Colts after a three-year stint with the Winnipeg Blue Bombers. Current Status: Active.

David Foucault, tackle from LaSalle, QB. Was not drafted during the 2014 NFL Draft but was signed by the Carolina Panthers. He made the final 53-man team. Current Status: Active.

Class of 2013:
Luke Willson, tight end from LaSalle, ON. Drafted in the 5th round (158th overall pick) by the Seattle Seahawks. One of the few Canadians to be a member of a Super Bowl-winning team. Current Status: Active.

Stefan Charles, defensive tackle from Oshawa, ON. Was not drafted during the 2013 NFL Draft but was signed by the Tennessee Titans. Soon after he was signed to the 53-man roster of the Buffalo Bills. Current Status: Active.

Class of 2012:
Tyrone Crawford, defensive lineman from Windsor, ON. Drafted on the 3rd round (81st pick overall) by the Dallas Cowboys. Voted for by his teammates as the winner of the 2014 Ed Block Courage Award which is given to those who are role models of inspiration, sportsmanship, and courage. Current Status: Active.

Philip Blake, offensive lineman from Toronto, ON. Drafted in the 4th round (108th pick overall) by the Denver Broncos. Signed with the practice squad of the Arizona Cardinals. Current Status: No longer with the NFL. Now with the Montreal Alouettes of the Canadian Football League (CFL).

Christo Bilukidi, defensive lineman from Ottawa, ON. Drafted by the Oakland Raiders in the sixth round (189th pick overall) and is now playing with the Baltimore Ravens. Current Status: Active.

Class of 2011:
Danny Watkins, offensive guard from Kelowna, BC. Drafted by the Philadelphia Eagles in the first round (23rd pick overall) making him, at 26 years old, the oldest first-round selection since 1980. He played with the Eagles til 2012 and with the Miami Dolphins in 2013. Sports Illustrated has a excellent story about how Danny’s heart is less into football and more into firefighting. Current Status: Left the NFL. He’s now a firefighter in Dallas according to news reports.

Orlando Franklin, guard/tackle from Toronto, ON. Drafted by the Denver Broncos in the 2nd round (46th pick overall). Played for the Broncos until 2014. In 2015, he signed a five-year contract with the San Diego Chargers. Current Status: Active

Class of 2010:
Cory Greenwood, linebacker from Kingston, ON. Was signed by the Kansas City Chiefs in May 2010. Played with the Chiefs until 2013 and subsequently signed with the Detroit Lions in 2014 which released him a few months later. Current Status: Left the NFL; now playing the with Toronto Argonauts of the CFL.

Class of 2009:
Vaughn Martin, defensive tackle from Toronto, ON. Drafted by the San Diego Chargers in the 4th round (113rd overall pick). Played for the Chargers til 2012 and had stints with the Miami Dolphins (2013) and the Detroit Lions (2014). He is now with the Kansas City Chiefs. Current Status: Active

Austin Collie, wide receiver from Hamilton, ON. Drafted by the Indianapolis Colts in the 4th round (127th pick overall). Played with the Colts from 2009 to 2012 and with the New England Patriots in 2013. Current Status: No longer with the NFL; he’s now with the BC Lions of the CFL.

Class of 2006:
Jon Ryan, punter from Regina, SK. Was signed by the Green Bay Packers after a stint with the Winnipeg Blue Bombers (2004–2005). He then signed with the Seattle Seahawks in 2008. Like Luke Willson above, he’s a member of the Seahawks Super Bowl XLVIII-winning team. Voted for by his teammates to win the 2006 Ed Block Courage Award. Current status: Active.

Class of 2005:
Oshiomogho Atogwe, free safety from Windsor, ON. Drafted by the St. Louis Rams in the third round (66th overall pick). Played with the Rams til 2010 and, subsequently, signed with the Washington Redskins (2011) and the Philadelphia Eagles (2012). Won the Rams MVP Award in 2008. Current Status: Retired from the NFL.

Nick Kaczur, offensive tackle from Brantford, ON. Drafted by the New England Patriots in the 3rd round (100th overall pick). Played with the Patriots until 2010. Current Status: Retired.

Louis-Philippe Ladouceur, long snapper/defensive end from Montreal, QB. Was not drafted during the 2005 NFL Draft but was signed by the New Orleans Saints and, subsequently, by the Dallas Cowboys where he established his career. Current Status: Active.

Shaun Suisham, placekicker from Wallaceburg, ON. Not picked during the 2005 NFL Draft but was signed by the Pittsburgh Steelers which waived him a few months later. He then went on to play with the Dallas Cowboys (2005–2006), San Francisco 49ers (2006), Washington Redskins (2006–2009), and the Dallas Cowboys (2009) before he returned to the Steelers in 2010 to the present. Current Status: Active.

Class of 2003:
Nate Burleson, wide receiver from Calgary, AB. Drafted by the Minnesota Vikings in the 3rd round (71st overall pick). Played with the Vikings (2003–2005), the Seattle Seahawks (2006–2009), the Detroit Lions (2010–2013), and the Cleveland Browns (2014). Current Status: Free agent.

Israel Idonije, defensive end from Brandon, MB. Undrafted during the 2003 NFL Draft but was signed by the Cleveland Browns. At the NFL, he played mostly for the Chicago Bears (2003–2012 and 2014) but he also had stints with the Detroit Lions (2013) and the New York Giants (2014). He won the Ed Block Courage Award in 2009. Current Status: Free agent.
