Let us continue blogging about the hunky stars of the Netflix show One Piece and, this time, let us check out South African actor Steven John Ward who plays Mihawk, a character who’s become a fan favorite villain. Your five Famewatchers scheduled a groupwatch for the middle episodes of the series and, boy, did we all fall in love with Mihawk and the actor playing him.

Those who are familiar with the anime and manga say that Steven fit and played the character to a T while yours truly and Deena, who knew nothing about One Piece prior to watching the live version, were simply amazed at the actor. If his portrayal of the character ain’t the embodiment of great acting, we do not know what is.

Of course, because we — and you — get thirsty whenever we “meet” hunky actors we’ve not heard of before, we went a-googling to know more about Steven John Ward. The first things you should know and should bear in mind (hehe) is that he is happily married and that he and his wife — Valerie Joy Robinson Ward — are raising a baby girl. Valerie, from what we gathered on her Insta, is a journalist.

Steven is 33 years old. He’s got a bachelor’s degree in the performing arts from AFDA which, per wikipedia, is a South-African higher ed institution that “offers courses in film, television, performance, business innovation and technology, radio and podcasting, and creative writing”. And, aside from One Piece, he’s starred in 13 other movies and TV shows including Queen Sono as well as The Day We Didn’t Meet. He will be starring in two upcoming called Catch Me a Killer and Dinner to Die For.
