Male Celebrity Low Rise Jeans: Or Is It Low Hang Jeans? We have a confession to make; for the longest time, we thought low rise jeans and low hang jeans are the same. Apparently, they’re not but are two different things. Hehe, we were so clueless.
Anyhoo, we learned of the difference when we were talking about Ryan Guzman — in the photo below — wearing low hang jeans and our friend Kevin was like, “What are you talking about? He is wearing low rise jeans, yes, but that ain’t low hang.”
Well, what’s the difference then between low rise jeans from the low hang variety? Apparently, when people talk of low-rise jeans, they are referring to those that “that sit low on, or below, the hips, usually at least 8 centimetres (3 inches) lower than the navel”.
Low hang jeans, on the other hand, have nothing to do with the cut of the outfit. They are simply hanging low or sagging simply because it’s loose and the wearer is pulling them up and tightening his belt. For instance, here’s Zac Efron with his sagging, i.e., low hang, jeans.
And here’s Kid Ink performing on stage with his jeans sagging.
Kevin went on to explain that low-rise jeans can be low-hang jeans if whoever is wearing them is not pulling them up and keeping them in place.
So what about Ryan Guzman below? His pants is clearly low rise but is it low hang? Looks like it, no? It’s clearly low rise but it’s also sagging a bit.

Hmmm. Is Daniel Craig wearing low-rise jeans? If the definition of low-rise is that it sits about 3 inches below the navel, then this ain’t it no? This is more of a mid-rise jeans.
