Max Purcell Shirtless, Girlfriend, Titles, Sponsors. Is 2023 the breakout year for Australia’s Max Purcell in tennis singles? Looks like it just might be, no? He has already established himself as a contender in doubles — he and fellow Aussie doubles partner Matthew Ebden reached the Australian Open finals last year and they went on to win the Wimbledon Championships trophy the same year — but he’s still in a quest to bring home an ATP singles trophy.
However, he’s done pretty good this year as he made it to the quarterfinals of the Cincinatti Open while beating more established names along the way. Specifically, he beat current world #5 Casper Ruud in the second round and went on to outscore multiple Grand Slam champion Stan Wawrinka in the next round. He eventually succumbled to current world #1 Carlos Alcaraz but he took the fight to three sets.
Purcell is currently ranked at #47 in singles which is his highest ranking ever. Considering how he’s performed against higher ranked players, i.e., he gives them trouble before he loses or he beats them, we’re looking forward to seeing our curly-haired Aussie rise up the rankings.
Speaking of hair styles, is it us or does he look way better when he cuts his hair shorter and gets rid of the mullet? We think his long hair hides his good looks, the mullet is giving Joe Exotic Tiger King vibe, and the facial hair ain’t helping either because it makes him look like an 80s adult actor. Hehe. Aside from his Wimbledon doubles trophy, he is a two-time doubles winner of the US Clay Court Championships, first in 2022 with doubles partner Mathew Ebden and in 2023 with Jordan Thompson. To date, according to atptour.com, he’s banked a total of $2,524,165 in prize money.
In the sponsorship front, he has inked clothing and racquet deals with Dunlop as well as Bausele, an Australian watch manufacturer.
