Footballers With Rolex: Pele’s Rolex Day Date + David Beckham (published 18 August 2010). Pele (full name: Edison Arantes do Nascimento) and British David Beckham are, without a doubt, two of the greatest footballers of all time. So we’re thrilled to see this awesome picture of the two enjoying each other’s company. Pretty cool, huh?
Okay, we agreed that these two football players belong to the “great footballers” list but who is better between the two of them? Hah! That’s pretty easy. We are going to say that Pele is greater than Beckham.
Why, you ask? Because Pele is the only footballer to have played in three World Cup-winning teams (Beckham doesn’t have a World Cup title to his name). Pele was the undisputed king of football during his time (whereas Beckham shares the limelight with other talented players). And, finally, Pele’s KBE (Knight Commander of the Order of the British Empire) beats Beckham’s OBE (Officer of the Order of the British Empire). So there, even Queen Elizabeth herself believes that Pele ranks higher than Beckham.
Anyhoo, let’s go back to the subject of Rolex watches, shall we? For those of you Rolex watchers, that’s a Rolex Day-Date watch on the great Brazilian footballer. So let’s include him in our list of footballers with Rolex which, so far, includes our imaginary Ukrainian boyfriend Andriy Shevchenko.
