Best Running Shoes for Girls: Asics GEL-KAYANO Shoes? If the Asics Gel-Kayano shoes is as good as its manufacturers claim it is, then we’re ready to declare it as the world’s best running shoes for the ladies. What’s so good about it that we’re willing to name it as the world’s best? Well, the running shoes reportedly adapts its shape to suit the hormone level of whoever is wearing it. If that doesn’t enter the list of “awesome stuff in the world of fashion” we don’t know what will.

From the Daily Mail: “Designers have come up with a running shoe for women which adapts shape to suit their hormone levels. The trainers – available in white, gold and black – capitalise on research showing that changes in levels of oestrogen affect flexibility and the height of the foot’s arch. When oestrogen is high, and a woman is at her most fertile, the arch drops. Later in the month, when she is menstruating, levels of the hormone are low but her arch is raised. To take advantage of this, Asics’ scientists created trainers with three layers of cushioning below the arch. Closest to the foot is a layer of foam, followed by an air-filled gap and a plastic block. When the woman’s arch is low, the foam is compressed into the gap and when her arch is high the foam fills out, ensuring her feet are supported whatever the time of the month.”

Anyone out there who tried the Gel Kayano shoes? What’s your review of the product which, at £120 a pair is quite expensive? But if it is as good as makers claim then maybe you’ll get your money’s worth. But then again, maybe the claim that it adjusts to one’s hormone levels may just be too good to be true, no?

UPDATE: Celebrities Wearing Asics GEL KAYANO (24 July 2011). Not surprisingly, some celebrities love them their Asics GEL-KAYANO running shoes. The list includes acoustic singer John “Heartbreak Warfare” Mayer who’s seen here wearing his Gel Kayano.
