Philip Johnson America, the Movie – Lifetime Channel. So, what do you think of Rosie O’Donnell’s America movie? And what do you think of new actor Philip Johnson? Do both the movie and Philip deserve the rave review that Craig Ferguson gave it?
Anyways, here’s more info on Philip from Lifetime:
The title role in the Lifetime Original Movie “America” marks 17-year-old Philip Johnson’s first foray into acting. A native of Detroit, Johnson was discovered by “America” executive producers Rosie O’Donnell and Larry Sanitsky while dining with his family at Small Plates, an eatery in downtown Detroit, just a few days before principal photography of “America” was scheduled to begin.
O’Donnell invited Johnson to read for the lead role the next day. He impressed the cast and crew with his spot-on reading and landed the role immediately. Johnson’s younger brother, Steven, also appears in the movie as America at age 10. Johnson is a senior in high school and is currently being recruited by colleges, including Harvard. He was planning to major in engineering, but is now considering a career in acting.
UPDATE: Rosie and Philip guested at the Tyra Banks Show to promote the movie. Watch:
