When did our tennis superstar Novak become a friend of Dorothy? And who is this Jakub Mensik and what did he do to earn that look from our Serbian icon?

Woah, woah, woah. Slow down, will you! You might be forgiven for not yet knowing anything about Jakub Mensik because he’s young and all but don’t do Novak like that. He’s looking admiringly at Jakub simply because he’s tired and that he lost to the youngster at the final round of the 2025 Miami Open. Apparently, per wikipedia, Djokovic is also some kind of a mentor to his younger Czech counterpart.

Anyhoo, for those of you who’ve not been paying attention to the goings-on in the tennis world lately, Jakub is a 19 year old Czech tennis pro who is currently the youngest player in the Top 20 ATP singles list. Specifically, he ranks #17 and, as mentioned, he won his very first ATP title by beating Novak at the 2025 Miami Open last March.

He’s beaten other top ten players aside from Novak. Per wikipedia, he’s outscored the likes of Andrey Rublev, Casper Ruud, Andrey Rublev, Jack Draper, Taylor Fritz. He’s done pretty good in the grand slams too as he’s reached the third round of the US open twice and once at the Australian Open. Clearly, he’s got the talent and the fighting spirit, no? We expect to see more of him in the coming years.
