This post focuses on the ten best platform divers in 2014 as ranked by the Fédération Internationale de Natation (FINA) or the International Swimming Federation. We think the ranking should cover a longer period (rather than just the past 12 months) and that it should include more results from more events (rather than the best three results), but that’s us.
Anyhoo, let’s check out the Top Ten Divers in the world with China’s 1) Yang Jian at the head of the pack. His most notable achievement to date: winning the gold medal in the 10m platform event at the 2014 FINA Diving World Cup.
2. Qiu Bo. Most notable achievements to date: Winning three gold medals at the World Championships (2011 and 2013) and a silver medal at the London 2012 Olympic Games.
3. Tom Daley (United Kingdom). Most notable achievements to date: Winning a gold medal at the 2009 Rome World Championships and a bronze medal at he London 2012 Games.
4. Chen Aisen (China). Most notable achievements to date: Winning a gold medal for the mixed team event in the 2014 Diving World Cup as well as a gold medal at the 2014 Asian Games.
5.Huo Liang (China). Most notable achievements to date: Winning a gold medal at the 2008 Olympics, three gold medals from the World Championships (2007, 2009, 2011), and two gold medals from the FINA Diving World Cup (2006 and 2008).
6. Ivan Garcia Navarro (Mexico). Most notable achievements to date: Winning a silver medal at the 2012 Olympic Games and two gold medals at the 2011 Guadalajara Pan American Games.
7. Sascha Klein (Germany). Most notable achievements to date: Winning a gold medal at the 2013 World Championships, a silver medal at the 2008 Olympics, and ten gold medals from the European Championships.
8. Zhang Yanquan (China). Most notable achievements to date: Winning a gold medal at the 2012 Olympics and two gold medals at the FINA Diving World Cup.
9. Victor Minibaev (Russia). Most notable achievements to date: Winning a silver medal at the 2013 Barcelona World Championships and two gold medals at the 2014 Berlin European Championships.
10. Francesco Dell Uomo (Italy). Most notable achievements to date: Winning a silver medal at the 2004 Madrid European Championships.
