Alexander Elliott Gay or Girlfriend? Look who’s starring in a movie about modern-day dating and the dark side of the internets? It’s 20-year-old Canuck actor Alexander Elliott who’s the male lead in the upcoming Lifetime TV movie, Dateless to Dangerous: My Son’s Secret Life.

Alexander might just be one of the most exciting young talents coming out of Canada right now. If you’ve caught Hulu’s The Hardy Boys, you’ll instantly recognize him as Joe Hardy, the clever, daring teen detective who brought a beloved character to life with charm and energy.
He started in the biz pretty early. By six, he was already dancing, and not long after, he was part of the Charactors Theatre Troupe, a musical theatre group for kids. That early training clearly paid off. By the time he was 11, he’d landed a role as Agent O’Que on the Emmy-winning kids’ show Odd Squad. Two years later, he was on stage at the prestigious Stratford Festival, playing Winthrop Paroo in The Music Man.
But it was The Hardy Boys that really brought Alexander into the spotlight. His portrayal of Joe Hardy across multiple seasons showed that he could carry a series and connect with audiences of all ages.
What’s great about Alexander is that he’s not just a one-role wonder. He’s shown impressive range with parts in Violent Night (yes, the wild Christmas action movie), the psychological drama All the Lost Ones, and the short film with the provocative title The Pros and Cons of Killing Yourself. He’s also had smaller parts in shows like Locke & Key, Workin’ Moms, and Detention Adventure, adding layers to his resume and proving he’s more than just a teen detective.
When it comes to his personal life, Alexander seems to prefer keeping things low-key. He still lives in Toronto with his mom, Rucsandra Schmelzer (who worked at CBC/Radio Canada), and his sister Rebecca. There’s no public relationship drama or tabloid buzz — just a young guy focused on his craft.
And the industry’s taking notice. For his role in The Hardy Boys, Alexander was nominated for a Canadian Screen Award for Best Performance in a Children’s or Youth Program or Series. He’s also received film festival acting awards (Lonely Wolf International Film Festival, Onyko Films Awards, Gralha International Monthly Film Awards, and World Indie Film Awards) for his role as a bullied schoolboy in the 2021 movie Being Brave.
Is he gay or straight? Does he have a girlfriend or boyfriend? We do not know the answers at this point. In interviews, he’s mentioned wanting to concentrate on school and work before jumping into anything serious romantically.
Anyhoo, do check him out in Dateless to Dangerous which should be coming on your small screen this June 2025.
