Alessandro Gassmann Shirtless, Calendar Underwear, Italian Hunk. We were looking for a movie to watch on Netflix and came across this upcoming film called My Name is Vendetta which is scheduled to drop today. The premise of the movie — a former mafia enforcer out for revenge — sounded interesting so we added it to our “must see” list and we hope to watch it once it drops.
We also went a-Googling to learn more about the lead star and, apparently, we mentioned him once before when we blogged about Mehmet Gunsur.
Remember the pic above? That’s Alessandro and Mehmet starring in an award-winning LGBT movie called Hamam (Steam: The Turkish Bath) about an Italian guy (played by Alessandro) who inherits a Turkish bath in Istanbul who falls in love with the son (played by Mehmet) of the family managing the bath.
For those of you wondering, Alessandro is Italian and is actually a pretty big star in Italy. To date, he starred in a total of 83 movies and TV shows, has another project which will be released today (My Name is Vendetta), and has four other projects lined up in the future. On the awards front, he’s brought home a total of 21 trophies from Italian award-giving bodies (Golden Globes Italy, Rome Film Fest, Italian National Syndicate of Film Journalists) as well as from international orgranizations and film fests (Venice Film Festival, Cairo International Film Festival, Biarritz International Festival).
By the way, we should mention that Alessandro comes from a famous showbiz family. His parents (Vittorio Gassman and Juliette Mayniel) are just as accomplished and just as famous as he is and his son, Leo Gasmann, is a singer/songwriter who won at the Newcomers Section at the San Remo Festival and landed in 5th place at the Italian version of the X-Factor.
