Fashionista tells us more details about how Cameron became a CK model:
Dallas’s relationship with the American brand runs deep — at least in the online world. In 2011, he tweeted that he wanted to be a Calvin Klein model and five years later, he was sitting front row at former menswear creative director Italo Zucchelli’s Milan Fashion Week show.
“It’s a dream come true to actually be in one of their campaigns,” said Dallas in a press release. “I’ve always been a huge fan of the brand, and these pieces fit perfectly with my everyday style.”
Moral of the story: If you tweet it, they will come.
It helped, of course, that he is already an established internet celebrity with tons and tons of social media followers. In fact, we read somewhere that an additional metric that designers are now looking for when it comes to the models they hire for their runway shows or ad campaigns is the number of said model’s social media followers.
So we are not really that surprised that Calvin Klein decided to hire Cameron Dallas to be the face of their campaign even though — in the traditional sense — he isn’t very “modelly” at all. The modeling game sure is changing.
So what do you think of the Cameron Dallas way on how to become a Calvin Klein model? If you want to follow his way, go do something that would attract tons of followers and then send a Twitter message to the CK powers-that-be.
