Mute Movie – Duncan Jones Interview. Duncan Jones, the director of the much buzzed about Moon movie, is already working on his second film for which he is reportedly being paid the very A-List amount of US$25 million. Wow. Just wow.
The movie is about the mysterious disappearance of a woman who …. well, let’s have the director tell us more about it. From his interview with io9:
Speaking of Ridley Scott, you mentioned earlier a desire to make a Blade Runner-esque sequel set in a futuristic Berlin. Can you tell us more about that? I still want to do that film, and I’m still hoping to do it, and have it be the next film I do. It’s not Blade Runner 2. I have no claim on that at all. The only reason that I mention Blade Runner is because there’s something about that particular film, where they really created a believable and realistic living breathing futuristic world. For all of the other films that have tried to do that I don’t think anything has come as close the way Blade Runner has to creating something believable. Something that feels real and organic. It’s like going to a real city and shooting a film there. You just get a sense that this place exists. [In] most of the science fiction films, it always feels a bit fake and a bit flat, but Blade Runner really didn’t. That’s the aspect of Blade Runner I’m hoping to capture. If and when I get the chance to do my film that I’m making.
Nymphadora Tonks Go Skinny Dipping and Other Harry Potter Scandals. We give props to Natalia Tena for living up to the quirkiness of her Harry Potter character, Nymphadora Tonks. According to a report by the Daily Mail, Natalia “left fellow revellers spellbound when she stripped off her clothes and plunged into a lake” during the Secret Garden Music Festival.
How cool is that? Says a source: ‘Natalia was paddling in the lake completely naked. Lots of people were swimming, but most of them had bikinis or shorts on. People were pointing at her because they recognised her from the Harry Potter films, but she didn’t seem to care.’
To Rob Knox: From Daniel Radcliffe, Rupert Grint, Etc. Look who’s written short notes of tribute to a murdered friend? It’s Harry Potter aka Daniel Radcliffe himself, his BFF Ron Weasley aka Rupert Grint, and several cast and crew members of the Harry Potter series.
Okay, for those of you who are new to this story, Rob Knox is an actor who played Marcus Belby in the Harry Potter movies who was murdered last year by a certain Karl Bishop. In honor of their fallen friend, the cast and crew of Harry Potter paid tribute to him by writing messages which he will, up there in heaven, hopefully read.
Here are the Oscar acceptance speeches of Danny Boyle and the other members of the Slumdog Millionaire team who won big at the Oscars. We enjoyed watching the movie. Its fresh, entertaining, exciting, and it has a social relevance too. It’s the kind of movie we like. Obviously, we’re not the only ones who liked it as it has been receiving tons of recognition from award-giving bodies. The Oscar statues, of course, is the biggest of the awards the movie brought home. Congratulations, Slumdog team. Now, what are you gonna do about those Slumdog Kids living in the slums of Mumbai?
David Holmes Harry Potter Stunt Double Injured in Shooting Accident. OMG. This is terrible news. A stunt double for Daniel Radcliffe in the Harry Potter movies was injured when an explosion occurred at the set of the popular movie franchise’s last installment, Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows.
The Mirror quotes a source who talked about the accident: “The stunt double was badly hurt. He was rehearsing a flying scene which involved an explosion and it seems to have gone badly wrong. The guy was rigged up to a harness for the scene and was flying through the air. It is thought he may have been caught by the explosion and hit the ground very hard.
“He told crew members who went to help him he couldn’t feel anything from the waist down. Everyone is just hoping he makes a good recovery. It has come as a terrible shock.”
