Jay Chou Shirtless: Kato in Green Hornet Movie. Taiwanese pop idol/actor Jay Chou (Zhōu Jiélún) has been cast as Kato in Seth Rogen’s Green Hornet movie. The role was played by Bruce Lee in the 1960s television version. According to the Hollywood Reporter Jay landed the role after a video audition last month. Says Jay of his role: “I won’t try to be Bruce Lee’s Kato. I will try to bring my own interpretation to the part.” Good decision, Jay.

UPDATE, 21 May 2011: We bring you some still photos of Jay Chou, with co-star Seth Rogen, from the movie Green Hornet which was released early this year.

The movie didn’t do well in the North American box office. It grossed $98 million which is lower than its $120 million production budget. However it made nearly $120 million overseas with China as the biggest market registering a total gross of nearly $20 million.

We were hoping this would be a blockbuster so there will be some sequels and so we’ll be seeing more of Jay Chou as Kato but with the so-so box office gross, we don’t think that’s going to happen.

Well, we can always ogle at the shirtlessness of this Taiwanese hottie, can’t we? He’s got nice abs!

Want some trivia about Jay Chou? Well, did you know that his favorite actor is Jet Li, that he has seven other alternate names (Chieh Lun Chou, Chieh-lun Chou, Lit-Lun Chow, Chou Kit Lun, Jay Chou Kit Lun, Zhou Jie Lun, and Jie Lun Zhou), that he’s an avid collector of cars and owns a Batmobile, that he stands at 5’8″, and that he’s sometimes mistaken for John Cho of the Harold and Kumar movies.

Oh, he also plays different musical instruments such as piano, guitar, cello, Chinese flute, Chinese zither and jazz drum. If that’s not a multi-talented dude, we don’t know what is.
