Shirtless BMX Riders: Bicycle Motocross Racing Hunks. Seems like Famewatchers are loving our entries on shirtless athletes (like ’em shirtless NASCAR drivers and shirtless golfers), so we decided to do another post on hunky sportsmen focusing this time on BMX riders. We must admit that, at first, we didn’t find BMX racing to be that interesting but when we chanced upon a race on TV during the London 2012 Olympics, we were thrilled by the sport.
Maris Strombergs: Anyhoo, let’s check out the leading men of Bicycle motocross racing and we begin our list of shirtless BMX riders with probably the most bemedalled of them all: Maris Strombergs of Latvia (the guy in the first pic above). Maris won the Olympic gold medal for the men’s BMX event in the Beijing 2008 and he re-asserted his reign as the King of the Hill when he won his second gold medal during the London 2012 Olympic Games.
Apart from his two Olympic golds, Maris also boasts of two gold medals from the BMX World Championships (2008 Taiyan and 2010 Pietermaritzburg). However, he settled for the silver medal during the 2011 BMX World Championships in Copenhagen.
Sifiso Nhlapo: This 26-year-old BMX racer from Soweto, South Africa bagged the silver medal at the 2010 UCI BMX World Championships. He placed third in the 2008 BMX World Championships but was also awarded the silver medal following a positive drug test for the original silver medalist. Joris Daudet: French man Joris Daudet is next in our list of hot shirtless BMX riders. Joris boasts of three medals from the BMX World Championships having won a gold medal at the 2011 Copenhagen World Championships, a silver medal at the 2012 Birmingham World Championships, and a bronze at the 2010 Pietermaritzburg World Championships.
Marc Willers: Kiwi racer Marc Willers won a bronze medal in Copenhagen 2011 and a silver medal at the 2013 Auckland world Champtionships.
Mike Day: This California native won the silver medal for BMX racing at the 2008 Beijing Olympics. In addition, he has two World Championship medals (2005 and 2009) and a bronze World Championship medal (2006).
Donny Robinson: Like his compatriot Mike Day, American rider Donny Robinson also medaled in the Beijing Games bagging the bronze medal for the BMX event. He also boasts of a gold medal from the 2009 UCI BMX World Championships held in Adelaide, Australia.
Sam Willoughby: Aussie cutie Sam Willoughby bagged a silver medal in the London 2012 Games placing second to Latvian Maris Strombergs. He also has a gold medal from the 2012 Birmingham BMX World Championships. [Photo courtesy of Sam’s Twitter account: @sw91.]
Moana Moo-Caille: French hunk Moana Moo-Caille won a bronze medal in the 2012 BMX World Championships.
That’s it for now. We will update this post once we come across more shirtless BMX riders or racers. We’re looking at you, Liam Phillips. Haha.
