Taiwanese pop idol/actor Jay Chou (Zhōu Jiélún) has been cast as Kato in Seth Rogen’s Green Hornet movie. The role was played by Bruce Lee in the 1960s television version. According to the Hollywood Reporter Jay landed the role after a video audition last month. Says Jay of his role: “I won’t try to be Bruce Lee’s Kato. I will try to bring my own interpretation to the part.” Good decision, Jay.

Watch out folks, Taiwanese guys are conquering the world. After Taiwanese born Jason Wu conquered the world of fashion when the inaugural gown he designed was picked by First Lady Michelle Obama, another Taiwanese guy, Lu Yen Hsun, became the first giant-killer in the Australian Open when he knocked out number 9 seed David Nalbandian.
The tennis wasn’t pretty as the two were committing lots of unforced errors but a win is a win. I think this is the second time that Lu knocked off a much higher ranked player in the early rounds of a tournament. During the Olympics in Beijing, he beat Andy Murray during the first round.
