Alex Karidis: Ribbon Lift is Madonna’s Plastic Surgery Secret

What is “ribbon lift”? It’s reportedly a surgical procedure which may be Madonna’s secret for her, uhm, youthful looks. What’s the procedure like and how much is a ribbon lift? Well, according to a report by the British tabloid Daily Mail, a ribbon lift costs around US$6,000 (approximately £4,300). How is it done? Apparently, they implant a ribbon around your earlobe and this will supposedly lift your neck tissues and make you look younger. The ribbon dissolves and will be absorbed in two months and its beauty effect lasts for three years.

More from the Daily Mail: In an interview in the latest issue of Grazia magazine, plastic surgeon Alex Karidis claims Madonna was showing telltale signs of the procedure in a photograph taken days prior to the star-studded ceremony.

Mr Karidis explained: ‘[A tube-like device] is tunnelled under the skin and has lots of tiny hooks that attach to the muscle and tissue. We then pull it upwards to lift the whole area. It doesn’t appear as if the ribbon has dissolved properly. However, she looks to have cleverly covered it with a loose hairstyle at the Oscars party.’

Madonna’s Cosmetic Surgery Secret: Sclerotherapy?
06 July 2010

What is sclerotherapy and what does Madonna got to do with it? Well, Famewatchers, sclerotherapy is a cosmetic procedure which is used to eliminate spider and varicose veins. Madonna is reportedly using it to hide the veins in her hands. The Daily Mirror reports:

Yes, the Material Girl is seeking help from her dermatologist Dr Fredric Brandt to combat her pop-out veiny mitts – and until then she’s doing her utmost to make sure they stay hidden from prying lenses.

My mole in the Madonna camp tells me: “She’s managed to work wonders with her face over the past few years thanks to Dr. Brandt, but hands have always been the big age giveaway.

“Madonna hates the appearance of her hands and says they are too “old lady”.

So far Dr Brandt is talking to Madge about chemical peels, intense sessions of microdermabrasion, injectable fillers and scierotherapy.

But according to my sources she’s already had the scierotherapy – when a solution is injected into a vein causing it to turn white and gradually disappear – and a round of fillers costing an estimated £2,000. And apparently she’s thrilled with the results.

Well, we’re happy that she’s happy with the results of her sclerotherapy sessions. She is becoming a sad caricature of herself with all these plastic surgery procedures she’s doing but we gotta thank her for expanding our vocabulary because without her cosmetic adventures we would be clueless on what sclerotherapy means, right?
