Have the voting results for The X Factor been compromised by a website (free2call.tv) which allows non-UK based fans to vote for their favourites? That, my friend, is the question that the show’s producers, ITV, and government regulator Ofcom will have to answer. According to the Daily Mail, they reportedly had a crisis meeting to discuss the situation. The meeting was attended by producers for another reality show, BBC’s Strictly Come Dancing, which also relies on public votes to decide the show’s winner.
Anyhoo, before we all get our panties bunched up because of this “scandal”, a spokesperson for X-Factor has revealed that only a small number of votes – generally less than one per cent of the vote – were cast through free2call. She adds: ‘The integrity of our voting systems is of paramount importance and we are confident there has been no possibility of free2call votes affecting the overall result.’
So there. Now, don’t you go accusing our favorite X Factor contestants aka John and Edward Grimes of unfairly benefiting from this free2call voting system.
