Peter Gabriel Pulls Out of Oscars

We do understand why he decided to pull out. Note to Oscar organizers: Are you taking whatever it is that Joaquin Phoenix is taking? You don’t ask Peter Gabriel to sing in just 65 seconds. You can do that to an up and coming singer but not to someone who’ve had a very successful career.

Peter Gabriel has pulled out of his performance at the Oscars ceremony after organisers shortened his stage time to just 65 seconds.

In a video on his website, the Academy Award-nominated singer said he had hoped to perform the complete version of Down To Earth.

The song features in Wall-E and Thomas Newman has been co-nominated with Gabriel. Three shortlisted songs will be performed at the ceremony as part of a medley. Gabriel said: ‘It’s a bit unfortunate’.

But he added he was ‘an old fart’ who could afford to ‘make a little protest’. [dailymail]
