Chris Brown Arrested for Beating Woman (Rihanna?)

Update 2: Update 2: Usmagazine has confirmed the identify of Chris Brown’s victim to be his girlfriend, Rihanna.

Sources tell Usmagazine.com that Rihanna (real name: Robin Fenty) is the alleged victim in the felony battery investigation involving her boyfriend, singer Chris Brown.

On Sunday, around 6:30 p.m., Brown, 19, turned himself in to Los Angeles police and was officially booked at 7:41 p.m. for making criminal threats.

Brown posted $50,000 bail and was released. The case is being presented to the Los Angeles County District Attorney’s office; additional charges may be filed.

Brown — who has hired lawyer Mark Geragos (who defended convicted murderer Scott Peterson and Michael Jackson during his child molestation trial) — is due in court March 5.

The incident occurred early Sunday morning near Hancock Park in L.A. Police confirmed late Sunday that an unidentified woman phoned 911 and claimed she got into a fight with the singer and he attacked her.

Police say the woman had visible injuries. When officers arrived, they found the victim, but Brown had already left the scene, police say.

Update: Chris Brown turned himself in and was booked for beating the, as yet, unidentified woman.

Anyways, could the woman that Chris assaulted be Rihanna? Why else would she cancel her Grammy appearance? And why else would this incident fall under “domestic violence investigation”?

R&B crooner Chris Brown is under investigation for alleged domestic violence felony battery, the LAPD confirmed to People and TMZ.com. The victim’s name was not disclosed, as is routine in such cases.

Brown and girlfriend Rihanna were scheduled to perform at the Grammys on Sunday night, but it was announced that they won’t be attending.

The reason given for Rihanna’s non-attendance was that she sustained facial injuries in a car accident, reports theinsider.com:

According to People.com, Around 12:30 a.m. on Sunday, the R&B singer and a woman were in a vehicle in L.A. when they became involved in an argument, according to a police statement. After stopping his car, Brown and the woman got out and the argument escalated. The woman suffered visible injuries and identified Brown as her attacker, according to police.[Huffington]
