Good “voice”, eh? He sings like a woman. He doesn’t lose his pitch though. Am having increasing difficulty distinguishing between the men and the women…The women try to sing “powerful” and “loud” and the men become “feminine” and “shrill”…geez…

What? Are you people crazy – insane? This guy screeches through his songs, sounds awful on the low range notes, barely makes last nights performance ‘original’ and looks as if he opened Complex Mag to work out his outfit. This guy is sooooooooooooooooo over-rated. Cannot believe the judges like this dude. Good for B’Way, but get off the TV. I mean, seriously, do you really believe he is a better singer/performer than Lil Rounds or Alexis or Gokey or the JT look-a-like guy? Does anyone agree here? Does anyone else cringe when he goes for the hair band style high notes? Oh good god its painful to even think about.
He sure is straining his voice and has a very harsh tone. He sounds like Axl Rose, and will probably ruin his voice just like Axl did with all the shouting. He has a great range and is a showman, but that’s about it. I have heard him sing twice and don’t care to hear anymore. I give him 3 or 4 weeks before people start to realize his weakness.
It never ceases to amaze me how people don’t seem to know the difference between a personal like/dislike and actual experienced, knowledgeable information. Adam does not scream and he is not injuring his voice. Anyone trained in music and vocal education (and yes, I have over 30 years experience and training in singing and teaching voice) can hear the breath and muscular support he uses in his vocal technique. He has what is referred to as a power voice with a natural (not forced) vocal range (sounds like it might be a 3 octave range there). You might not like his voice (I and many others love it), his style might not be your cup of tea (again, he is doing better than alright by many of us), and you might even have your own personal prejudices for not liking him…that’s OK, your entitled to your thoughts and feelings, you don’t have to make them “valid” by declaring your personal opinions as if they were coming from a place of factual knowledge. Whether you love him, hate him (which I find a pretty harsh statement if you don’t even know him personally), or just feel indifferent to him, the FACT is the boy can sing! By every law of musicology Adam Lambert is an exceptionally skillful singer. And for those of us who enjoy his style, he is an exceptional entertainer. Be proud of your opinions, stick by them if you choose to and be secure in the fact that they are valid; but please don’t confuse them for something other than what they are…personal opinions…just like everyone else has.

I hope Adam Lambert wins! He’s really trying hard and wants this. Everybody loves him and everybody is talking about him! There is a saying, at least your being talked about and not forgotten. I’ll be voting for Adam the whole way!
He’s obviously a very good singer. I bet those who criticise here so far only does so because they’re just good at it – criticising. I can criticise too but hearing Adam’s singing, that was sheer mind-boggling. He’s very good at singing! Feminine or not, that’s his style. So, don’t dare to even call Freddy Mercury’s singing as feminine too, you critics. Freddy was one of the greatest singers of all time – shrills, high notes, whatnots.

@ Silent Fawn, I agree 100%. Some of my friends said he screamed last night. I sent them the YOUTUBE version and asked them to really LISTEN. NO ONE ont he show this season has the control he has. I'm a Black woman who typically prefers R&B. However, I appreciate ALL types of music, especially when the singer has a great voice and the song is a great song. I think a lot of people make judgments based on the fact that they don't like a particular type of music. As I mentioned, I like all types. But, no matter if it's R&B, Rock and Roll, Jazz, Country/Western, Christian, Folk, etc. if you have a great voice, you have a great voice. . .point black. And Adam has a great voice. Just like Chris Daughtry, Adam won't win because Americans are stupid (not really, just kidding). But also just like Chris Daughtry, he'll probably do better than the actual Idol.
He isn’t screaming because the dynamics are extremely controlled. His voice is unique… he sounds like a real artist.
What I particularly liked was the seamless transition between rockish high notes in his normal register into the sweet falsetto.
That boy’s high notes are supernaturally good. His talent is light years beyond everyone else. But he won’t be understood by many and perhaps won’t win this competition.

I just don’t understand how someone can even deny his musical talent?? A-Lam leaves Idol in the dust… he is way beyond the show in terms of raw vocals & talent. Johnny Cash would have loved A-Lam's Ring of Fire performance. His stage presence is very reminiscent of Jim Morrison or Robert Plant… even a hint of Elvis is there. As Randy Jackson would say, A-Lam is dope!

I agree with Silent Fawn 100%. AL is ridiculously talented. As a professional opera singer, I am jealous that he can do things that took me until 40 to learn! The way he moves from full-voice to falsetto, seemlessly, is just scary good. He is really versatile and I truly believe that THIS one will go far, no matter how stupid the teenybopper voting public is. He is just a big talent and will do some big things.
What a performance by Adam last night!! WOW!! I was hoping he'd change his style & sing a ballad to show everyone what he can do. I had already seen him sing ballads & look all conservative & he finally did that on the show!! YAY!! It's awful the way some people judge him. I personally feel he's bisexual, as I've seen him "with" women as well as men, but none of that matters to me. He's gorgeous, talented & very sexy. He will definitely go far!!!!
Adam is brilliant! His performance of Ring of Fire was other worldly, beyond description. I love Johnny Cash, but many of his old songs sound so much alike. It seems to me that that was the way the song should have been sung. And last night’s performance of Tracks of my Tears, WOW! He’s beyond all the other contestant’s and sooooooooo many other performers out there today. If he wins or not , he’ll go far.

To the person who compared Adam to Axl Rose and put both of them down: I find that absolutely hilariously entertaining! I love Axl. And I love Adam. Both are brilliant. What I find entertaining about your comment is that Axl sang for one of the most infamous rock bands of all time AND even after seventeen years STILL sells out arenas even without an album! It goes to show talent and what people love to hear. I’m not sure if Adam will will American Idol because, like many have said, he will most likely be misunderstood and unappreciated by many, but he will do better than the winner (if he doesnt win). He’s got an amazing voice range and control. He knows how to pick songs. Hes true to himself as an artist. He is comfortable and not afraid to be unique. He connects with his audience both in the theater and at home. It feels like he has the type of confidence where he knows he’s that damn good, but it doesnt come across as anything more than sincere and comfortable confidence. It doesnt feel like a competition. 45 year old uptight, upright Midwesterner here, I am married to a homophobic hockey playing construction working Norwegian Neanderthal….and we are both blown away by Adam. The hubby is a die-hard Johnny Cash fan, and at first he was horrified by the Ring of Fire cover, then he asked me to rewind it and play it again, twice. Verdict? Awesome voice. Then this week, we both had tears in our eyes, listening to the Tears cover, seeing the pain in Adam’s eyes when he sang it, and I just downloaded it for our ipods. It touched my soul, and it haunts us both, we’re still talking about it days later. If they are not playing it on the radio already, they ought to be. Anyhow, I just wanted to let everyone know that all sorts of people are fans of Adam’s, even straight-laced middle age countryfolk from Wisconsin. By the way, we are also fans of Axl and the late, great Freddie Mercury. It wasn’t all that long ago when the Beatles’ music and haircuts were considered scandalous. We’ve come a long way. I just hope our society has come far enough to be able to embrace Adam’s talent, regardless of his life choices. And I hope if he is indeed gay or bi, he does not feel pressure from AI or society to sneak around like that Clay kid. For heavens’ sake, even Grannie knows that Liberace and Elton are gay, and it hasn’t hurt their careers. We all need to just live and let live. And vote for Adam.

Cause he is true to his self and I think he does a very good job in making the songs his on. I think he should win… But, if he dont he will do very well for himself. Having also been a singer myself, I agree with those who’ve complimented Adam Lambert’s voice. His pitch is perfect and that’s difficult to do…even for experienced singers. His range is amazing, his talent truly unique. He’s the first person on AI I’ve actually wanted to hear sing.
If you know and focus on the music, then you know true talent when you hear it.

I think that the people who criticize Adam Lambert are most likely tone deaf….seriously….. or jealous of his good looks, stage presence and voice. The man is a phenomenal singer. He is, in my opinion, the best they have had on American Idol for the past eight years. I predict that he will

Adam! True greatness can only be achieved if you dare to take risks. Adam Lambert has proven every week that he is fearless and will stay true to himself, no matter what. That honesty and audacity, coupled with his amazing voice and stage presence, seal a complete package that so few possess. To me Adam is the most memorable contestant on Idol, ever. He will always have my support because he dares to dance in the path of greatness, as Paula Abdul rightly said so.
Adam is an amazing artist, all his covers were as good if not better than the original. He gives each song a unique twist and makes it his own. He has a wide range and an out of this world vocal prowess the likes of which haven’t been seen in so long.
The haters/bashers are just jealous of Adam’s God-given talent, granted that we’re all entitled to our own opinion, but tell me, what good does it really do to diss someone because they are different? (Adam is different in a good way, he is unique).

Tuesday night showed Adam as the front runner. For him to be in the
bottom two makes me highly suspect.
I thought something was up when the judges talked so much after his performance without really saying anything. Danny and Allison are good but nobody on that show can even come close to the talent of Adam. He reminds me of Elvis!!!!
No one can come close to Lambert. He is so talented and so willing to take risks. I can’t think of anyone in the history of Idol who can change keys in the middle of a song and still have perfect pitch. Danny is a good singer but the problem is if you heard him sing one song, you’ve heard them all. They all sound the same and I can’t remember one song that he has done. However, I can remember every song that Adam has done. Allison is good at some songs and not so good at others. She will be a successful artist because she has her own sound. Adam should win Idol…hands down. He really is the best they have ever had. P.S. I don’t think he’s gay. I think he just likes to shock people.

I can’t believe Allison was voted off and Gokey gets to scream like a stuck pig for another week! I have abdolutely no respect for Danny. He so much as admitted a week ago that he was watching other people on idol and then trying to copy their style. Here’s a novel idea….try being yourself instead of an Adam Lambert wannabe. I hope you get voted off this week Gokey. You really are in over your head. There might be a place for you in the music business but you are not a superstar. Only AL can pull that one off.
Of the three remaining on idol, Adam is hands down the best singer. I am very sorry that Danny’s wife died. This is not something to be made light of, BUT Gokey entered a singing competition. It is not a pity competition……and trying to illicit pity from the voters is a sad way to try to win anything.
I'm 51 & from the Philippines. The likes of Danny & Kris & the rest in the group are just mediocre. They have similarities with other contestants in the past. In other words, I've seen them before. We have better artists in our country that can out do them, except for Adam Lambert. Adam is the best I've ever seen on the AI stage. He is a honed versatile artist. The rest are just singers. They would do well in clubs, corporate events or front acts for some major artists, but, I don't think they can hold a concert audience for an hour or 30 minutes even. I would snore! And, I won't pay to go to their concerts. I'll just wait to watch them on TV.
Every year I've been watching AI, contestants who win have always become better & better, with the exception of Taylor Hicks. Taylor was a major foul-up. McPhee is even doing better in her career even though both were dropped by their major labels after the AI win. Hicks didn't bring the money for his producers. He's not even a major star in the Broadway musicals he's in.
Lambert deserves to win. His vocal skills, stage presence, music tastes just goes to show how cultured and well bred he is. He's very engaging – mesmerizing even. And, that's what people generally want to pay for – the entertainment factor. May not be for everyone but generally, any producer could win big business from him. He's even good in his interviews. The way he composes his thoughts & verbalizes them is very articulate. When he talks about the artistic factors he brings in, tells you he has the expertise & knowledge of the craft & what the profession entails. He's very intelligent. I can see that he has the stamina to survive & soar in the music industry. He handles himself well amidst critiques & explains himself in a way that isn't offending, but just imparting what others may misunderstand – that is, the essence of art and culture.
I'm a David Cook & Archuleta fan as well. But, i don't even think the 2 Davids can come close to what Lambert does. Though, i honestly think David Cook's own theater experience helped him win. He knew how to engage a crowd. He was also fearless, cultured, well bred, had a versatile vocal range, apart from the fact that he has good tastes in music.
It's funny that the rest of the AI contestants admit that Adam had coached them one way or the other. Anoop said so. So did Allison & Danny. Adam isn't selfish & shares his knowledge with fellow contestants, when he actually shouldn't. Adam even pep talked them after judgement day. I think Adam's the only one amongst everyone who keeps himself grounded. The rest of the pack, their jitters are so obvious because they are all unsure of themselves. I don't think that's the IDOL that America wants to see.
So, for all of you who are sticking their guns on the contestant that's mediocre. Think again. You're not really helping them get a breakthrough in the industry. They may have their respective talents but can't handle it yet & need a lot of training & experience to earn the "IDOL" tag. One isn't an IDOL unless he possesses a talent UNSURPASSED.
Kris & Danny aren't ripe yet, so to speak. Michael Johns is even a far better performer that those 2. Michael's cover of "Dream On" was engaging. Kris' & Danny's performances didn't just capture me. If Adam wasn't in the running this season, anyone from Kris or Danny could win. But, with Adam there, it's a closed case.
For me, Adam is the master of the arts. His training & experience tells the audience so. He is making a career change from theater/Broadway to mainstream Hollywood. That's the goal. He's done with theater & it did him well. I know he'll win.

After watching last night’s show, I would think Adam Lambert should win American Idol. He gave three outstanding performances. Kris did one. The song that Kara co-wrote sucked big time. Still, Adam’s performance of it was good to excellent. If there is any justice in this world Adam will win.
I would not pay one dime to see Kris in concert nor would I buy a CD. I would however, pay big time to see Adam Lambert in concert and I would buy his CD.
I think that the true test will come after idol is over. If you move forward to a year from now, Adam will be wowing crowds all over the world and Kris will fade away. He has some talent but not enough to sustain a career. Anybody remember Taylor Hicks????
Catherine McPhee was a much better singer. Unfortunately, the better
singer does not always win idol but the better singer always wins eventually.
It would be nice to see the better singer win this time around…..
I am so sick of reading that Adam Lambert is gay. The pictures floating around on line are theatrical photos……..it is so obvious that the pictures are posed. Don’t assume and report as fact something that you think might be true. It is not a nice thing to rely on gossip when it comes to something so personal. Would you like it if someone were to speculate about your sexuality???? It’s a singing competition people
Well surprise, surprise….once again the least talented singer has won American idol. At least Adam won’t be stuck singing that horrible song co-written by Kara. I predict Kris’s album will flop big time and Adam’s will sell like hotcakes. I am finished watching
idol. It’s just one big disappointment every year. They lead up to this grand finale and the least talented singer wins. I smell a rat!!!!!!!!
As I see it, there is a fundamental flaw in the way that the winner of American Idol is chosen. Anyone can be the absolute best singer in the group for all the weeks of the show and then be out voted in the final week. When there are three and one leaves, those voting for that person can shift votes to the least talented and they walk away as a winner. What they should do is vote off the lowest vote getter for the week and the remainder should be cumulative. When the final three are standing, the lowest vote getter should be sent home and the winner should be decided on the cumulative vote. This is why year after year the best are losing the competition and those less talented are winning. Not right…not fair

One thing I noticed was that Ryan Seacrest never said how many votes separated the 2 guys. Gee, I wonder why?
I also agree that the way the winner is chosen is flawed. Write to Simon Fuller, the exec producer, his office address is on his Web site.
