Dante Mendoza’s “Serbis” to Compete in Cannes

Congrats to Dante Mendoza. When was the last time a Pinoy film made it to the competition? Probably those Lino Brocka days, no? So this is quite an accomplishment for Dante and to Filipino film making as well.

Inquirer: Dante Mendoza’s “Serbis” will compete at the 61st Cannes International Film Festival, which runs from May 14 to 25 in France. The film, written by Bing Lao and Boots Agbayani Pastor, features Gina Pareño, Jaclyn Jose, Julio Diaz, Coco Martin and Kristopher King.

Does anyone of you know what this movie is about? We hope its not about prostitutes, or male prostitutes, or aging prostitutes, or prostitutes looking for their father. Practically every Pinoy film that gets exhibited abroad is about prostitutes. Except that delightful film Kubrador.
